Tony Curtis & Associates Inc. is actively interviewing for the role of Technical Designer/Product Developer for a leading Canadian children’s and women’s apparel and gift brand in Montreal. With several corporate stores in operation our client sells to better boutiques and department stores throughout North America, Europe, and Australia courtesy of a strong and dedicated team wholly committed to quality, originality, and playfulness. In this role you will assist in the creation and maintenance of style technical information. You will work closely with the Product Developers and Sr. Designer to execute all aspects of development, including the graded spec, technical sketches, construction details, and fit sample assessment. You will manage the communication of this information to the vendor in a timely and accurate manner that helps facilitate the success of each style. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in completing other aspects of style development while working closely under the direction of the Sr. Designer. Art specifications, line sheet development and vendor communication will be required. All applicants must be willing to relocate or move back to Montreal.

Job Duties:
Technical Development duties and responsibilities, may include but not limited to:
· Develop style technical packages; complete accurate technical sketches and relevant design detail images, define all construction elements, and create a fully graded spec
· Create and release Technical Packages using Yunique PLM
· Measure/analyze sample submissions accurately, and communicate comments to the vendor in a timely manner
· Responsible for conducting fit sessions with the Design team
· Communicate design, fit and construction issues to vendors in a clear and concise manner. Follow up on all issues and manage the issue until resolved.
· Maintain existing fit/style/quality standards.
· Responsible for the creation, record keeping and communication of new style numbers
· Manage incoming and outgoing samples
· Be flexible and able to assist the team on design related issues as they arise i.e.: photoshoots, parcel shipping, product charts, etc...
Design duties and responsibilities, may include but not limited to:
· Assist in maintaining line sheets (updates/revisions)
· Accurately draw technical design sketches using Adobe illustrator.
· Approving and commenting on submissions; (samples, fabrics, L/Ds, print strike offs, graphic tees, and embroidery S/O’s)
· Creation, sizing, and updating of art specifications; including graphic t-shirt and knitwear art.
· Creation of print colour sheets, recolouring of prints and overall management of print/colour files
· Build style BOM’s for new development, adding colour chips to PLM and edit existing information in PLM
· Create excel tracking charts for each vendor with seasonal style assortment
Requirements:
Successful graduate of College or University, with a degree in Fashion Design.
2-3 years of experience in a relatable role.
Strong understanding of garment fit and pattern making philosophy.
Outstanding knowledge of Adobe Illustrator. As well as working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Additional PLM understanding an asset.
Ability to accurately sketch garments.
Ability to accurately measure garments.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Must be fluent in both spoken and written English, Bilingual is preferred, but not required
