Tony Curtis & Associates Inc. is currently interviewing for the position of Sales Professional/Creative Merchandiser for a private label vendor. The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish a vendor office, combining Sales with Design and Merchandising for mass market and mid-price point apparel brands and retailers based in Canada and the USA. This role will emphasize Sales, Design Services, and Production, alongside being the direct representation for vendors in Bangladesh. You will bridge the gap and open doors between North American retail buyers and manufacturing, focused on securing high-value orders while ensuring the design and production import teams can deliver. You will also create and direct focused trend seasonal assortments identifying gaps in client’s presentation on the retail floor for mass market mid-range price point organizations. You must have the professional contacts and creative skillset to research, identify, evaluate and interpret trends to match the client’s customer demographic and price points, as well as present to key makers. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Leadership:

● Formulate and implement comprehensive sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share within specific apparel categories (e.g., knitwear, outerwear, private label).

● Monitor global fashion trends, economic indicators, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and adjust pricing strategies.

● Prepare annual sales forecasts and manage the sales department budget to ensure profitability and return on investment.


Client Management:

● Actively seek and build long-term partnerships with major global retailers, brand owners, and buying houses.

● Effectively communicate the company’s sourcing strengths—such as lead times, sustainability certifications (e.g., GOTS,

OEKO-TEX), and technical expertise—through high-level presentations.

● Serve as the primary escalation point for resolving complex customer inquiries or disputes regarding order quality and delivery.


Operational & Cross Functional Coordination:

● Partner closely with Sourcing, Design, and Product Development teams to ensure customer visions are technically feasible and meet margin goals.

● Lead high-stakes negotiations on pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules (FOB/LDP) to balance competitive buyer rates with factory costs.

● Oversee the end-to-end product development process, from conceptualization and sample approval to bulk production and final shipment.

● Ensure the sales team pitches products that align with the current capacities and capabilities of the company's vendor base.

● Confirm all sales contracts adhere to social and environmental compliance standards


Team Management:

● Recruit, mentor, and coach a team of sales managers and executives, fostering a culture of professional growth and high performance.

● Establish and monitor performance metrics for the sales team, including conversion ratios, new account growth, and customer retention rates.


Brand Trend Direction:

· Maintain the integrity and profile of the brand

· Establish and execute leadership and direction for brand

· Create & identify seasonal trend direction for theme, styling, colour, fit & fabric for      for each phase (big picture ideas)

· Establish colour stories for each phase identifying core fashion & accent colours

· Initiate sourcing of new fabrics seasonally and as required

· Set direction for new pattern, print & graphic ideas; work with Graphic Artist/Coordinator to execute

· Prepare, present and communicate brand direction, trends & seasonal colours through storyboards, templates and presentations (rack plan & strategic)

· Compile and maintain library of images for presentations, storyboards and trend alerts

· Initiate trend alerts and provide implementation strategy to Buyers

· Market research, competitive shopping, informative trip reports


Product:

· Identify growth categories and opportunities for business by product and Regional review analysis

· Stay abreast of market shifts and lifestyle changes that may impact brand development

· Build and merchandise the line

· Set up and maintain sketch library

· Initiate the development of the technical packages, overseeing 1 Technical Technician including the main sketch, fabric information, component information, block reference, colour & size breakdown

· Final review of the technical package to ensure all criteria is correct

· Coordinate the compilation of technical packages for review with President

· Attend fittings to ensure proper styling & fit for brand consistency

· Provide clear direction for labels, hangtags & packaging needs to Graphic Artist

· Update commodity boards & rack plans as needed


Communication:

· Participate in performance review

· Provide direction and leadership

· Work with President to establish and execute plans

· Regular meetings and communication with Buyers

· Meet with key vendors as required

· Provide continuous direction and guidance for Product Development ensuring consistency in the brand


Required Skills:

· Technical design/Fittings/oversee 1-2 junior Tech

· Keen eye for selection and editing styles apparel and accessories

· Excellent Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop skills

· Knowledge of garment construction & factory development & production – both domestic & import

· Knowledge of fabric & yarn construction print, embroidery, appliqué finishes and techniques

· Excellent communication and presentation skills

· Strong organizational and initiative skills

· Ability to multi-task and prioritize

· Excellent time management and project skills

· Detail oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision

· Motivated self-starter and team player

· Flexible to work overtime when required


Qualifications:

· Post-secondary degree or diploma

· Minimum 5 years work experience in a fashion related industry

· Retail knowledge and product development experience

· Management/supervisory experience
