JUNIOR CREATIVE MERCHANDISER – Niagara
The Junior Creative Merchandiser role is to participate in the building and execution of seasonal assortment
This is a key role within the Private brand department. – whereby they will learn the tools and foundation of the fashion industry while providing support for the team

RESPONSIBLE FOR
BRAND TREND
? Assist in maintaining the integrity of the brand and target customer
? Participate in developing seasonal trend direction for theme, styling, colour, fit & fabric for the brand for each phase (big picture ideas)
? Understand and participate in execution of colour stories for each phase identifying core, fashion & accent colours
? Present ideas for new pattern, print & graphics work with Graphic Artist/Coordinator to execute
? Compile and maintain library of images & drawings for presentations, storyboards
? Market research, competitive shopping and provide informative trip reports
PRODUCT
? Have an awareness of market trends, new silhouettes, fabrics & growth opportunities
? Participate in the merchandising of the line
? Set up and maintain sketch library, commodity boards & seasonal layout documents
? Initiate the development of the technical packages including the main sketch, fabric information, component information, block reference, colour & size breakdown page
? Final review of the technical package to make certain all information is fully included and correct
? Coordinate the compilation of technical packages and review with Buyers and Director
? Attend fittings to provide and ensure proper styling & fit for brand consistency
? Provide clear direction for labels, hangtags & packaging needs to factory
? Update commodity boards & layouts as needed
? Understand fabrications
COMMUNICATION
? Daily communication with factories
? Provide factories with clear direction in a professional manner.
? Understanding and prioritizing daily emails
? Weekly team meetings to ensure calendar deadlines are being met.
? Learn and maintain the reporting & analytical tools of the department
? Understand weekly sales report & how to apply information
? Manage and Complete documents related to product procurement: Assist in PO writing, Packing Slip confirmation.
OTHER
? Adhere to apparel calendar timelines to ensure all product deadlines are achieved
? Flexibility to travel
? Special projects as determined by the Director

REQUIRED SKILLS
? Keen eye for selection and editing styles products
? Excellent Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop skill combined with Administrative programs such as MS Office- up to and include filters and pivot table on Excel
? Knowledge of garment construction
? Knowledge of fabric & yarn construction, print
? Excellent communication and presentation skills
? Strong organizational and initiative skills
? Ability to multi-task and prioritize
? Excellent time management and project skills
? Must work well in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
? Detail oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision
? Motivated self-starter and team player
? Flexible to work overtime when required
PREFERRED
? Post-secondary degree or diploma
? Minimum 1-3 years work experience in a fashion related industry
? Retail knowledge
