Import and Product Compliance
Job Description
Import / Logistic
• Arrange inbound shipment (ocean/air) with Supplier, Freight Forwarders, 3PL and Customer for shipment from overseas to Canada and USA and prioritizing shipments based on order status
• Coordinate cargo release and custom clearance
• Obtain cargo manifest and ensure mandated shipment information / documentation are provided for customs clearance
• Investigate shipment shortages and damages for insurance claims by coordinating with carrier, shipper and insurance company and prepare required documentation
• Obtain rate quotes and negotiate pricing with forwarders and custom brokers, and establish cost projection
• Plan and consolidate shipment to achieve cost efficiencies
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes
• Monitor 3PL service provider for receiving and inventory management
Compliance
• Arrange product testing and ensure compliance with government regulations and customer requirements
• Develop and issue guidelines to suppliers in order to ensure product and factory compliance expectations are met
• Work with vendors and third-party inspection agencies to monitor progress of audit, testing, packaging and inspection
• Collaborate with product development team, to ensure regular and transparent reporting at development stage and identify potential areas of improvement in specifications such as labelling
• Collaborate with factories, purchasing and product development team to resolve quality issues.
• May require to travel 1 to 2 times annually outside North American to inspect vendors’ facilities
Other tasks and assignments as required such as
• Assist in sourcing
• Back up order processing

Qualifications include:
• High attention to detail
• Hands on knowledge of US and Canadian Customs Requirement, Freight Forwarding / Supply Chain Logistics, Ocean Freight Operations / international ports and geography
• Must be familiar with BOTH US and CANADA testing and compliance requirements. Knowledge of EU REACH requirements.
• Must be experienced with ERP systems
• Ability to think outside of the box and offer effective solutions; operational focus
• Experience in sourcing in China, India and other developing countries is definitely an asset
• Self-motivated
• Good working knowledge with Excel and Word
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills |
