The Opportunity: Senior Product Designer
Location: Oakville
Salary: 70-80K + Bonus Pay

Tony Curtis & Associates Inc. is actively interviewing for a Senior Product Designer in the Oakville area for our well-established client specializing in apparel accessories. Role Responsibilities & Requirements:
Design:
• Develop several product lines at varying market tiers simultaneously from conception to final production
• Starting with Initial Cad/Concepts
• Potential travel to US for market research
• Develop technical specs for factories
• Select appropriate factories/sources as needed
• Work with factories to develop final and approved samples
• Where products require new packaging, it may be necessary to design and develop functional and suitable packaging
• Cost negotiating to achieve desired price point and margin structure
• Assist with buy plan, working with sales team to arrive at a required inventory level
• Work with the purchasing department as buys are placed, furnishing them with costs, factory information and other detail as needed
• Review and approve final production of all product
Liaise with Major Brand Licensors:
• Concept approval
• Sample approval
• Marketing initiatives
Work with Retailers for Branded/Private Label Programs:
• Work within the Brands direction in creating new and desired products
• Develop items or lines from conception to production
• Following pricing and margin structures
• Work with Sales in the Marketing of Product Lines
• Support Sales with Marketing materials such as line sheets, catalogs, brochures etc.
• Supplementing Sales and Marketing tools with inventory (requires use of internal operating systems)
• Catalogs
• Photography and related photo touch ups for product shots used in line sheets and catalogs
• Create, maintain and print order forms for catalogs
• Support sale at different tradeshows and key sales meetings throughout year
Communication:
• Work with buyers to present lines and establish and execute plans
• Regular meetings and communications with Buyers
• Communicate with key vendors as required
• Provide continuous direction and guidance for Product Developer’s special department to ensure consistency in the Brands
Other:
• Adhere to calendar timelines to ensure all product deadlines are achieved
• Flexibility to travel – (Valid Passport)
• Special projects as determined
Required Skills:
• Keen eye for designing/developing and modifying designs
• Excellent Adobe Illustrator & Adobe photoshop skills for Technical Design
• Knowledge of packaging
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong organizational and initiative skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Excellent time-management and project management skills
• Must work well in fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Detail oriented and able to work with minimal supervision
• Motivated self-starter and team player
• Flexible to work overtime when required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Post Secondary Degree or Diploma
• 3-5 years’ experience in product/apparel/accessories design (required)
• 3-5 years’ experience in Licensed or Accessory industry
• Experience with leather preferred
• Retail knowledge and product/technical development experience
• Design/Brand/Development Management experience
